Show Times and Details
This production will be performed at Baumgartner Center for Dance.
The Program
Encore features excerpts from two 19th-century classical ballets, while three contemporary works will showcase how ballet has evolved over the centuries.
Vignettes
By DaYoung Jung
Vignettes was created as part of Milwaukee Ballet's 2022 Genesis International Choreographic Competition, where it won the "Audience Favorite" distinction.
The 2022 Genesis was one of the first programs following the pandemic and was performed masked. Revisiting the piece now will be a special opportunity to experience it in a new and refreshing way.
The Talisman Pas de Deux
Original Choreography by Marius Petipa
A grand pas de duex (or "dance for two") from the 19th-century full production will give audiences the rare treat of seeing some of the Company's up-and-coming artists taking on a piece that displays exhilarating tricks—what Michael Pink calls "balletic pyrotechnics."
Where The Light Touches
By Eric Figueredo
Created for himself and Leading Artist Marize Fumero, this will mark Figueredo's second work presented by the Company, following last year's INTERLACE, performed as part of the MKE MIX program.
Figueredo has also created pieces for the Milwaukee Ballet II Second Company.
Napoli Excerpt
Original Choreography by August Bournonville
The "Bournonville Style" showcased in Napoli is known to be one of the only classical techniques that has retained its authenticity throughout ballet history, and presents a unique opportunity for Company Artists to perform this type of stylized and precise dance.
The Kids Have Names
By Timothy O'Donnell
Performed to the music of Radiohead and hailed by many as O'Donnell's most powerful work, this piece premiered in the 2023 Originals production. Many of the dancers on which it was originally created will reprise their roles for this special recreation.
O'Donnell was formerly a Leading Artist and Resident Choreographer with Milwaukee Ballet.
