Summer Intensive Student Life

Student Housing

2024 Summer Intensive housing is located on the Milwaukee School of Engineering campus in the Margaret Loock Residence Hall (MLH) at 324 E Juneau Ave in downtown Milwaukee. Students registered to reside in housing will be assigned a dorm room with one roommate. Roommate details and contact information is not shared in advance of students' move-in date:

  • 6-week Pre-Professional Program students move in to MLH on Saturday, June 15, 1:00-4:00pm.
  • 3-week Intermediate Program students move in to MLH on Saturday, July 6, 1:00-4:00pm.

A mandatory orientation meeting for all students (housing and non-housing), is held at 5:00pm following each move in date. This meeting is held on the Milwaukee School of Engineering campus:

  • 6-week Pre-Professional Program orientation meeting: Saturday, June 15 at 5:00pm at Diercks Hall (1025 N Milwaukee St)
  • 3-week Intermediate Program orientation meeting: Saturday, July 6 at 5:00pm at Viets Tower (1121 N Milwaukee St)

Sending and Receiving Mail for Housing Students

Please send all mail and packages to Milwaukee Ballet's Baumgartner Center for Dance studios in Downtown Milwaukee. The Milwaukee School of Enigneering cannot accept packages for Summer Intensive students on campus or at the Margaret Loock Residence Hall. Mail and packages for housing students will be brought to the MLH dorms every weekday.

Following schedules are posted here each Wednesday the week prior. For example, the Week 2 schedule will be posted on the Wednesday during Week 1, and so on.

Excursions

Optional weekend excursions are open to all students attending the 2024 Summer Intensive Program at Milwaukee Ballet. Details for each excursion are posted listed below, and registration is now available online. Details subject to change.

Please note that each excursion has a unique sign-up deadline. Refunds are not available for excursions as group tickets must be ordered in advance.

Mitchell Park Domes Horticulture Conservatory | Saturday, June 22

DEPARTURE: 1:30pm from MSOE Residence Hall, arrive at the Domes around 1:45pm

RETURN: Depart the Domes at 4:00pm and return to Residence Hall around 4:15pm

COST: $20 (plus cost of special shows or activities once you arrive, optional)

The Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory is a living plant museum with a permanent collection of over 1,800 plant species that represent plant life from across the globe. Grab your phone and best outfit for insta-worthy photos! Drones and tripods are not permitted.

Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Game | Sunday, June 30

DEPARTURE: 12:00pm from MSOE, game begins at 1:10pm

RETURN: Depart American Family Field at the end of the game (about 4:00pm)

COST: $60 (plus optional personal spending money for food, merch, etc)

The game between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Chicago Cubs will start at 1:10pm. The game is played rain or shine with the assistance of American Family Field’s (formerly Miller Park) retractable roof. Wear your Summer Intensive t-shirt!

Milwaukee Art Museum & Discovery World | Sunday, July 7

DEPARTURE: 12:00pm from MSOE Residence Hall, arrive around 12:15pm

RETURN: Board the bus at approx 4:45pm

COST: $35 includes both museum admissions and bus transportation

Discovery World: Dedicated to helping people positively impact their communities by developing a better understanding of technology and the environment while fostering both innovation and creativity.

Six Flags Great America | Saturday, July 13

DEPARTURE: 9:30am from MSOE Residence Hall, arrive at Six Flags Great America around 10:30am

RETURN: Depart Six Flags Great America at 6:00pm and return to Residence Hall around 7:00pm

COST: $80 (plus personal spending money for food, etc, optional)

The Midwest’s premier theme park features more than 40 rides (including 12 roller coasters), a water park, spectacular shows and a variety of attractions. You will be responsible for purchasing your own lunch at Six Flags. Wear your Summer Intensive t-shirt and don’t forget sunscreen!

The bus will return to MSOE campus after the dining hall closes. Students will be responsible for dinner on their own.

Noah's Ark Waterpark | Saturday, July 20

DEPARTURE: 8am from MSOE Residence Hall, arrive at Noah’s Ark around 10:30am

RETURN: Depart Noah’s Ark at 5pm and arrive at Residence Hall around 7:30pm

COST: $100 includes admission and on-site lunch (plus personal spending money, optional)

Noah’s Ark is located in Wisconsin Dells and is America’s Largest Waterpark. They have dozens of water slides and tube slides, wave pools, raft rides, mini-golf, and more.

The bus ride is about 2½ hours long. Resident Assistants will take each student’s lunch order prior to the trip. Coin lockers are available for rent to keep money, shoes, etc. safe at Noah’s Ark. Bring plenty of sunscreen, towel, and a change of clothes for the ride home. The MSOE dining hall will be closed upon return to Milwaukee; students will be responsible for their own dinner.
